The Postgraduate Course in International Football Business was founded in 2016 by Jos Verschueren (Programme Director Sports Management at VUB) and Simon Van Kerckhoven (CEO IFBI), in order to fill the gap of education in the football industry.
Supported and academically endorsed by Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), IFBI was able to develop a unique Postgraduate Programme forming a bridge between academia, the professional field and the public sphere.
Apart from its academic role in collaboration with the University of Brussels, IFBI publishes reports and articles and helps various football industry stakeholders through their consultancy services.
As of 2018, under the guidance of Martijn Ernest, IFBI actively studies football-related trends and issues. By sharing knowledge obtained through research, its services are fully adapted to the demanding needs of the football industry.
The joint VUB-IFBI academic course relies on training high-potential individuals in order for them to start a promising career in the international football industry. Both academics as industry professionals contribute in order to prepare the participants so that they are able to face the complex challenges of this industry.
