The introduction to the course Football Sponsoring and Marketing begins with aligning the two concepts in order to define them in a football environment. First, historic evolution in sponsoring will be discussed to define the evolution from sponsoring to partnership building. Second, important figures, concepts and best-practices will be put forward in order to understand the main drivers of the sponsorship landscape in the football industry. Apart from making a clear difference between sponsoring and marketing, we focus on how sponsoring can be activated through marketing tools. Modern marketing activations and activities will be set forward as a way to trigger and enhance the students’ creativity. Last, we cover the expected evolutions in both fields, this from a socio-economic point of view.
